Time: 2 hours | Difficulty: 2/5 | Servings: 6 – 8
1. Prep
Preheat your oven to 350º and defrost your pie crust (if needed).
2. The Apples
Peel apples and then cut into thin wedges. Mix your cinnamon with 3/4 cup of granulated sugar, and then add to apples and toss.
3. Mix Butter and Sugar
Melt butter in a cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add brown sugar and stir constantly for 1-2 minutes until the sugar and butter are combined.
4. Build Your Pie
Remove from heat. Place one pie crust in the skillet over the brown sugar mixture. Spoon in apple mixture over the pie crust.
5. Top
Add your second pie crust on top and cut off any excess edges. Cut 4 slits in the top for steam to escape or you can make a lattice pie crust. Whisk egg white and crush the top of your pie crust evenly, then sprinkle granulated sugar over the top.
6. Bake
Place the skillet on a baking sheet (this will help catch any spillage) and bake for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes or until golden brown and bubbling. Let cook for 15-30 minutes. Serve with vanilla or butter-pecan ice cream and enjoy!
