ONION RINGS
Ever wanted to make onion rings at home? It’s not as hard as you think, and honestly, these were even better than any I ever ordered at a restaurant.
Time: 45 min | Difficulty: 2/5 | Servings: 4
1. Chop Your Onions
Peel and cut onions into 1-inch slices and separate the rings.
2. Prepare Your Batter
Add the egg, ¼ cup of vegetable oil, and milk to a large bowl. Mix on low speed using a hand mixer for 1 minute.
Add 1 cup of the flour, salt, and baking powder and mix until smooth.
In a separate bowl, add the remaining cup of flour.
3. Heat Oil
Heat oil in a pot to 375°F. Make sure to use an oil thermometer and keep a close eye on the temperature. This is key.
4. Fry
Coat onions in flour, then dip in batter and gently drop in oil. Cook until one side is golden brown, then flip. Total cook time should be around 5 - 6 minutes.
Place on a cooling rack and repeat until all rings are cooked. Serve with your favorite dipping sauces and enjoy!
